AMO Sustainable Building in the Paris region
The BDF approach is a building assessment that seeks to optimize a building, whether new or renovated, across all aspects of sustainable development. It applies to all types of buildings, whether residential or commercial.
The approach includes 7 main themes:
Project management: Highlighting the work of the project owner, the capabilities of the project management, research and project preparation.
Territory and Site: To ensure a project that not only fits into its territory but also builds on its strengths and weaknesses. This theme promotes local approaches in terms of materials, services, and stakeholders.
Solidarity: This is often a complex theme to integrate into certifications. It raises questions about accessibility for all, the possibilities of changing the use of buildings, opening them up to other audiences, shared use, and co-activity.
Energy: To optimize energy consumption to move towards passive buildings, it goes further by questioning the recovery of latent energy, going beyond the use of renewable energy.
Water: In all its forms, the requirements push us to question water consumption, sources of usable non-potable water, and the treatment of wastewater.
Comfort and health: Bringing together the major comfort issues (acoustics, visual, hygrothermal, air quality, etc.), the requirements are based on precise indicators to encourage designers to optimize their technical choices and materials.
Other resources: The theme questions the materials used, both in terms of their quantity and quality. It encourages the use of local resources and local expertise to limit the carbon footprint of buildings and ensure the use of more natural (less polluting) materials.
An original approach opening up to the sharing of experience
The BDF approach includes a few strict rules for successfully carrying out deliberately ambitious projects. A project must be registered upstream of the design stage, that is, at the beginning of the preliminary design phase. A collective effort is carried out with the project owner and the project manager, questioned by the BDF support team and the Ekopolis representative. Following these different phases of exchange and engagement, the project will be presented at public committee meetings to allow for a sharing of experiences between building professionals.
A design commission
to be carried out before filing the PC (to allow for consideration of any comments from the commission jury and the public
A production commission
under construction
A delivery commission
after two years of operation

Based on the assessment of the team and its supervisor, as well as feedback from committee members, a number of points is awarded to the project to define a level of recognition (from CAP to OR).
This sustainable development approach seeks to engage the project owner and design teams in strong commitments and to question a multitude of themes going beyond classic environmental themes.
To successfully complete this process, a person from the project management or project management team must be recognized by EKOPOLIS as a BDF support representative. Within the KEDROUS team, we have a BDF support representative.
KEDROUS supports you to ensure the process runs smoothly
The KEDROUS BDF consultant will assist you in defining the scope of the project, potential developments, and optimization research. They participate in collective intelligence meetings, participate in technical validation, provide support during various committee meetings, and are involved throughout the construction phase, right through to the operational phase.
- Assistance in defining a level according to the BDF approach
- Assistance during the design phase
- Assistance during the execution phase
- Assistance during the reception phase
- Privileged contact with EKOPOLIS and their representative
The BDF approach is managed by the EKOPOLIS association, which provides its members with a wide range of resources. However, it is not possible for EKOPOLIS to manage another label, such as a state label.
If the standard does not allow for labeling, it refers to the indicators of these labels (as for bio-sourced). To obtain the label, it will be necessary to seek additional certification.
